"So-" The Shogun of the Land of Iron sat across from the shinobi, his sitting room disturbingly silent save for the sound of icy wind outside. Dressed as befitting the greatest samurai in the world, his gaze was steely. "-the Uchiha have prospered." He gave her a bit of a sneer. "Did your Nidaime send you on his behalf? I imagine it's hard to walk in snow with your tail tucked between your legs."

Clad in the uniform of a kunoichi of Konohagakure, Tsukimi also stared at the young leader in front of her. She remembered Musashi from her childhood, but her motives to be there were far from wanting to have a friendly chat over tea to remember a time where things were not as chaotic.

“So it seems.” Tsukimi replied coolly, and even when Musashi delivered an insult to the man who looked after her and her siblings after their father’s passing, she did not flinch.

However, that didn’t mean Tsukimi was going to accept it.

“Not as much as having to hide myself from the world for being the son of a traitor.” now she was the one giving Musashi a condescending look.

theredpalace:

Musashi looked unimpressed at the sharp quip. “Invite the shinobi of the world to my table if you think I’m hiding.” He spread his hands across the room. “If they do not recall what happened to the Nidaime Tsuchikage they will learn.”

The shogun then let out a sigh of reluctance. Shinobi were mistrusted here and already he saw hopeful looks from his guards that her stay would be brief. “But you did not come this far north to the Land of Iron to mince words with me. Speak plainly.” His gaze hardened back into the one suited his place above the other samurai.

“Why did Tobirama Senju send you here?”

“I am not that stupid to declare war on someone in their own turf. Not that I have a reason to do so.” Tsukimi was quick in get the underlying threat in Musashi’s words, but she remained calm. Sure he was expecting any offense or attack from her to use it as an excuse to fuel his bad blood towards the Senju, particularly her guardian, but she wasn’t going to let that happen.

“Nidaime-dono proposes an amicable exchange of forces between countries in order to respond to any call for help if it’s needed since there is a world war brewing up right now.” Tsukimi bowed her head politely before Musashi, but inside she was not content with having to do so. “I will offer myself to support you and someone from your own will be sent back to Konoha to replace me. The Land of Iron might be under attack, even if you are staying away from shinobi business.”

Tobirama: *pulls Hikaru’s ear* “Say that again!”

Hikaru: “I said you are a ‘workaholic nerd’ and I won’t take it back!”

Tobirama: *confused and annoyed* “You should address me with respect, woman!”

I doubt the words ‘workaholic’ and ‘nerd’ existed during the warring states period, but Tobirama probably got the nuance LoL

With the birthday party slowing down, Musashi took a break from all the noise to take his son outside to enjoy the peace and quiet of the veranda...with a twist. "You're growing up son. You won't be a boy much longer." Already entering high school! The time truly flew by. "If you're going to be a man can I trust you to take care of your family and friends?"

It was some sort of unspoken rule for Mutsuki to celebrate his birthday with his family at nightime, precisely because it was more serene and the laughter of his loved ones had more impact on him. Not only his parents and grandparents gathered together, but also his little sister made his day with her adorable antics and heartfelt presents.

While Suseri tried to bargain with their mother to let her have another slice of cake and blow candles of her own too, Mutsuki accompanied his father outside.

“So I am still your boy, huh?” Mutsuki chuckled. It was amusing how his father was all sentimental sometimes yet, he fervently denied being so. “Of course you can, Dad—” he was alarmed with this, and quickly turned to look at Musashi “Wait, what’s this all about? Are you going to die?!”

theredpalace:

Musashi laughed and shook his head. “No, no, I still have a lot of living to do before I’m satisfied with dying.” He assured, but pulled a pair of sake cups and a bottle over to where they were sitting.

“My father let me have a taste of sake when I entered high school for the first time. It’s the first step into becoming your own man.” He poured…then paused for a moment. “Just don’t tell your mother and go to bed as soon after okay? I don’t need her assuming I’m helping develop a habit…”

Mutsuki sighed in relief once his father eased his concerns, perhaps he should stop watching k-dramas with Suseri…

The offer of a good cup of sake was an offer he didn’t expect to hear until he entered college. Musashi and Tsukimi were careful in his rearing to make sure he grew up well, and that included keeping him away from any vices, bad environments and people that could ruin his life. Musashi acting like a partner in crime was kind of refreshing, and he accepted the sake with a smile.

“Is it that strong?” Mutsuki asked, taking a sip. A slightly burning and dry sensation invaded his tongue, and then he exhaled deeply. It tasted slightly fruity and… flowery? “I bet you’ve been waiting years just for this, huh? You know what’s funny? Mom told me this morning to keep away from tobacco. I still remember when she used to smoke a package a day,”

[Be careful of what you pick]

sarcasm-muses:

Confusion clearly writes on the young child’s face, but unlike Hikaru, Tobirama has seen this look so many damn times. He never get used to it, no one can, because they are all human and even the strongest man out there still has a heart. Still, he is their second in command, he is their protector, he can’t fall, if he does, who will be there for them? Hashirama is amazing, but he is only one man…

“He is dead.” There is no hesitation in his words, so blunt, so ruthless. The looks on the little girl’s face though, heart broken, body shivers, as if she can’t accept this, couldn’t, wouldn’t, and oh how similiar they are, he used to be like her, the day his mother passed away. “However, you aren’t alone. He chose to leave so he can protect you, you mean the world to him and even in death, he still there, by your side. He will never truly leave, as long as you remember him. Still, it doesn’t mean I encourage you to live in the past.” Firmly looks at her, Tobirama kneels down as he run fingers on her hair. “He would want you to survive, to see the world and one day, when you two meet again, he will be happy to hear about all kind of adventure you did.”

It is such a surprise that Tobirama can say that much, he always too busy and makes his converstation short, as long as the other understand his point then it is good enough, no need to waste time no?

“Come.” Fear and wary by his enemies, but Tobirama has always gentle to his clan, even has a soft spot for the kids. He isn’t the heart of the Clan, that spot belongs to Hashirama, however, he is their Moon, their night, protect them, comfort them when darkness claims the world. With gentle movement, he holds the small girl into his chest, whispers comfort words as the child breaks into tears. War - such selfish thing, create by human’s greed and lust, but at the same time, those human also such pitiful creature.

“I will take good care of you.” At this, he glances at Hikaru for a quick moment, then picks up the young girl. “However, I believe she wants to ask you a few questions.”

Hikaru felt useless when she was unable to deliver the bad news. Something as simple as that should have been a piece of cake, but the truth was that she could not avoid relate a lot to Mokuro and Mei because she had gone through the same. Luckily, Tobirama put an end to her struggle by outright saying the truth to Mei, which mortified Hikaru even more.

“Don’t blurt it out just like that, you dork!” Hikaru thought agitatedly. As it was expected, Mei was shocked at first and then cried.

Before Hikaru could hold her close, Tobirama had the good sense of comforting Mei with truthful yet sweet words. But those words had an unexpected effect on Hikaru, who also felt comforted. No one did so the day when her father died, perhaps that’s why it had been so hard to choose the right message for Mei. That moment, Hikaru not only was relieved of her grief, but also saw a more noble side of Tobirama, and she respected him for that.

However, she was flustered when the tender moment was cut short, and both Tobirama and Mei focused their attention on Hikaru, and she cleared her throat rather awkwardly before putting on her kindest disposition.

“Mei-chan, before he died, your Papa asked me to take care of you until you become an able young lady.” she reached her arms towards the girl, as if she wanted to hug her too. “That’s why I want to ask you if you want to come live with me.”

Mei looked at Tobirama then at Hikaru, and again at Tobirama as if asking him for guidance while her hands clutched his shirt. She just looked on in silence, and Hikaru assumed Mei trusted Tobirama more, and so, the redhead lowered her arms and decided not to pressure her.

“I want to see Papa.” Mei asked Tobirama, still with a sad face. Hikaru nodded in approval at Tobirama with her head. Mokuro’s body wasn’t mangled and his face had been cleaned of the blood, it was alright if Mei was allowed to see just her father’s face one last time.

Flavor of Life

theredpalace‌:

However, when Hikaru turned to speak to Hahari, she was no longer there.

“Oooh! It smells good!”

One of the other vendors, an older lady, was giggling as Hahari breathed in a deep berry scent of strawberries and blueberries, all neatly organized in little boxes for purchase. “Isn’t though?” The vendor agreed. “You should have seen Muri-san, he took three boxes and I don’t even know where he’s going to put them!”

“Ooh! Hikaru!” She pointed at the boxes, the vendor already wrapping some up. “Let’s make fruity donuts! Everyone’s going to be eating with their hands anyway and we can fill them with homemade jam!”

“Oh my goodness that’s right-” The vendor realized. “-you’re going to that culinary school across town aren’t you? I wondered why I hadn’t seen you…”

“Oh it’s great!” Hahari encouraged. “Hikaru’s like…the best in our class!”

“Donuts, you say…”

Hikaru stared at the fruit once again but her mind was trying to conceive the idea of Shani’s superb homemade preserves stuffed into a ‘commoners treat’. It sounded delicious and practical, however…

“It’s an offense to Shani-senpai’s jam.” she murmured while Hahari praised her with the vendor. “I don’t deserve that title, I am far from being the best. Buy already what we need and let’s get going.”

When she turned away to keep walking, Hikaru received a picture from Shisui in her mobile, of him eating shaved  ice quite happily, along with the caption ‘You don’t know what you are missing, Hikki’. Sometimes he irked her with his enthusiasm, however, this time that positiveness brought a faint smile… and a idea.

“Come, Hahari, do as you want.”

The Awakening of a Princess

celxstialclan:

hikaru-mikazuki:

hikaru-mikazuki:

Instead of being preocupied with Madara’s rage, Hikaru giggled at the unfolding scene, finding it very hilarious. It was unbecoming of a crown princess to have fun at the expense of others, but Hikaru genuinely thought the music was a good idea to romance a couple.

“Oh my, hell broke loose right now.” she stood up and looked at Miyako “I guess your godmother should stick to being a future queen instead of playing matchmaker with a warlord and a feisty woman.“

Discreetly but fast, Hikaru left the scene before her presence was noticed and walked around the garden in circles, actively avoiding Madara and Kagura. She would habe loved to run to Haruka to tell her about her failed attempt to.bring those two together, but Hikaru knew her friend was busy attending her duties as queen and couldn’t be.bothered over a minor thing.

At the end, Hiaru had decided to return to the nursery since soon Miyako was going to demand to be fed. “You know, Miya, I think Shisui’s antics are rubbing off on me. Don’t try this ever, you heard me?“ another laugh escaped Hikaru’s lips but she covered them.“I just hope my idea doesn’t bring a war upon Homura and Yugen.“

Because her godmother was laughing, Miyako giggled a little too. However, as Hikaru predicted, Miyako was starting to get hungry. She held her arms up when Hikaru put her down, hungry but wanting to stay. The sound of wood and string breaking seemed to happen around lunchtime, because shorty after that, the royal family reconvened for lunch. One of the musicians stomped up to Hikaru, handing her the bill for replacement of several broken instruments. Madara was sporting bandaged hands, Kagura seemed highly displeased and the prince and his wife were finding this far too amusing to hide it better.

“What happened?” Junichi snickered while eating his plate of mountain bass sashimi.

“This imperial imbecile got so upset, he managed to get splinters in his hands. I had to spend almost half an hour making sure I got all of them out.”

“Splinters?”

“He punched a hole in a shamisen.”

While Hikaru tried to comfort Miyako until Haruka could feed her, she was startled with the sound of many things breaking and she wondered if something had happened. But it wasn’t until lunchtime that Hikaru finally found out the real source of the ruckus and had an awkward smile when she looked at a pissed off Madara. But the real surprise came with the delivery of a bill due to damaged property.

“,,,” Hikaru was speechless. She had never been confronted with such a situation because her father always took care of her problems. However, Hikaru didn’t want to bother him with something as trivial as this, and she smile became a polite one “Very well, I will take care of this as soon as I return to Yugen.”

Even though it had been her fault, now Hikaru was the one holding a beef against Madara for breaking someone else’s belongings and try to make her pay. But she soon planned how to show Madara that he wasn’t above her, despite the difference in ranks.

“You know, Haruka, Father only allowed me to attend the ball on the condition that I’d return as soon as the festivities were over.” Hikaru looked at Miyako and tickled her gently, then whimpered “I will be leaving tomorrow morning before he sends the royal army to get me. But can I take Miyako with me? I promise to love and protect her as if she were my own, and I will teach her how to be a worthy successor of yours!”

Although Hikaru was only joking, she unknowingly predicted the role she would have to play for Miyako in the years to come, and to take her own words as a vow instead of a joke.

“Sadly, you cannot,“ Haruka laughed. “I believe I would miss having my own child. Nor do I want to be on the receiving end of your father’s ire when he sees you back with a baby.”

“Well, we could always make Miyako a brother or sister…” Junichi was pushed by a now flushed Haruka, who refused to even dignify his suggestion with an answer.

“At any rate, it’s sad you can’t stay longer. We don’t get to speak much anymore. Aren’t you going to undergo training soon?” Haruka took the now sleepy Miyako in her arms, who leaned into her mother’s touch readily.

“Unfortunately, I will soon have to depart for Homura as well.” Naomi looked over to Madara with a smug grin on her face.

“Why? Have a woman already waiting for you?” Kagura tried not to glare at Madara, challenging him to admit he is already married. Though he wasn’t, he answered Naomi’s teasing question with the truth.

“No, but I do have a son.” A profound silence swept through the table, the only noise Miyako’s soft snoring.

Hikaru thought twice on Haruka’s remark before nodding in  agreement,  Certainly her father was very permissive regarding many things, but bringing a royal infant from a foreign kingdom wasn’t one of them.

“That is a great idea! I request to be the godmother of that child too!” Hikaru eagerly asked.

The scene was tense once again when Madara’s mysterious private life was put into question. The Emperor of Homura was allowed to keep many other concubines besides his empress, but it was unknown if Madara kept an harem.

At least it was evident that he was attracted to women. His little son was proof of that, but finding a woman willing to care for him like her own was no easy task. And the prince had a reputation of being quite a handful.

"Actually the fact of becoming a mother right away after marriage is a very tempting idea, at least for me.” Hikaru pointed out. However, she couldn’t outright state ‘I don’t want a husband who conquers other countries for sport’ “But I can’t bear having my husband away all the time. I admire your resolve, Lady Kagura and I wish you my best in your marriage.” Hikaru raised her cup “A toast for the new empress of Homura. Cheers.”

sarcasm-muses‌:

“I don’t believe in Hope and Miracle.” He only trust what he sees, trust his brother. Stubborn, headstrong and even somewhat arrogance, but you couldn’t really blame him. This era, it was different from the one in future, and until now, he has lost and lost, many people, many things, the only things he gained from it was pain. If it comes then it will comes, he can see and guess things, his view is wide and ahead people, however, he doesn’t share what Hashirama has, and his view seems to be the possibility of the worst, just to prepare, after all, he has Hashirama to deal with all those positive things, it suited someone like his brother, bright and caring.

“I know. She will be take care of.”

Many child lost their parents, and it is safe to say the Senju is wealthy enough to raise all those child. Injured shinobi, who no longer able to go out there, will be the one who in charge of the orphans, to warn them, prepare for them incase they wish to join the battle field. Unlike the clan head’s child, the child of the member can choose to fight or not, they can remain in the land, surround by the barrier and do things to support the clan. It used to be different, but since Hashirama became the Leader, a lot have change, of course, Tobirama may or may not have a hand in making those foolish Elder to agree with his brother’s decision. But yes, he would prefer if no one else will live the way they have. Unfortunately, there is no ‘ifs’.

“She will be safe in my people’s hands.”

Unless she chose to follow her parents’s footsteps, turned his head to look at her, red gaze - shadowed by the darkness of the night - strangely remind people of the colour of blood - crimson and deadly. He aware of what she wanted, however, it wouldn’t be possible. It last for a moment, then he lowered his gaze, stared into the mug in his hand, from such position, it was easy to see those long and pure white eyelashes, the colour of his hair. Sometimes, people wondered if the man was an albino…

“Thank you for your conner, however, I know how I am right now. I will not fall, and even if I did, it will be for the greater good.”

Yet, he still allowed the liquid to pour down to his throat.

“Tobirama-dono…” she murmured his name with a sad expression. Despair was the opposite of Hope, and those who lived in despair tended to readily embrace death. She didn’t want Tobirama to die just yet.

For now, Hikaru decided not to push the matter further. However, there was something else that she wasn’t going to relent on so easily: the guardianship of her patient. She scowled when Tobirama hinted that Hikaru was not going to partake in the girl’s rearing.

“It’s also a personal matter. I have to be involved in her care.” she insisted with a tone that didnt take ‘no’ for an answer. When he was alive, Mokuro Senju had come to her a few times to be patched up, and always spoke eagerly of his 6-year old daughter: Mei, since he was a widower. Hikaru wanted to honor her promise to him.

After Tobirama drank his tea, Hikaru acompannied him to Mokuro’s home and knocked the door. Mei opened it to them, and believing her father had returned home, she hugged Tobirama’s legs. But upon realizing her mistake, Mei pulled apart and bowed politely before them.

“What a proper child…” Hikaru thought with an endeared smile. “Hello, little one, I am…”

“Lady Hikaru!” Mei interrupted, and Hikaru’s eyebrows raised slightly "Papa talks of you a lot! Where is he?“

"Uh, Mei-chan, your father…” Hikaru felt a knot in her throat. She had done this before a few times already, it should be easy now. But she couldn’t bring  herself to destroy the hope in Mei’s eyes. Was this what Tobirama spoke of earlier?  “He is…”

As one would expect when friends with one of the local rich boys, the Kamiyas have thrown a birthday party for Mutsuki, with a two tiered vanilla ice cream cake, several presents and wacky party hats and decorations. "Happy birthday!"

Also coming from an affluential family, Mutsuki was used to have the best of the best, but even so, he always enjoyed the parties his friends threw for him instead of the more classy ones his relatives had during family gatherings. The whole time, he stared at Shizuka, the object of his romantic affection, and kindly smiled to her when she handed him her present. Then he fist-bumped Shinobu as he handed him his present too.

“Thanks, next year let’s include my baby sister too, hopefully she will be old enough to have her first taste of pizza and ice cream.” Mutsuki took a selfie with his friends, although he added a filter with the face of Suseri on it too.

Shizuka is working on paperwork in she and Mutsuki's shared bedroom when she speaks. "I find it hilarious how everyone hated my father's financial plans yet compares mine to his. I guess learning to stop living and getting off on the backs of slaves wasn't enough for them."

As the husband of the head of the Kamiya, Mutsuki was supposed to have the ‘minor’ role of househusband. But unknowingly to most, he actually played an important role in supporting Shizuka in her clan’s affairs. Privately, he was her secretary of sorts.

“As his daughter, you are bound to be compared to Haruki-san all the time, dear.” Mutsuki began organizing alphabetically the documents Shizuks had already read. “Don’t expect their crusty minds to comprehend what"s best for them.”
